For those of you who wanted to know what happened with Devious Dingo, here's the scoop.  Devious awoke late on Saturday and hurried out to the site.  Glancing through your papers to him, he set up his catapult in the correct spot.  Realizing that 11 AM was almost upon him, he quickly glanced at a paper to see what angle to launch from.  Unfortunately he grabbed only one page of a paper and that page had an angle, but it had the angle to not fire at.  So we not only did the anvil land on Devious Dingo, but shortly afterward, the wind picked up and blew the copies of your papers I sent to him away.  He has not made further contact, but I expect he has not given up his quest.

A short tutorial on how to produce vector fields in Matlab can be found here.

Basic Lecture notes from 4-4 are here (Microsoft Word File).

Exam 3 will be Thursday March 31st.  Exam 3 will be taken without calculators, but you may still use one side of a 3"x5" handwritten note card.

There is a homework assignment due Friday February 1st.

There is no homework due Friday March 25th.

The Final Exam for this class will be held May 3rd from 7-9PM in Coover 2055.

The last day to drop a full semester class without extenuating circumstances is Friday March 25th

I made a mistake in announcements in class Friday.  Exam 3 is not scheduled until the week after the week after Spring Break (the week of March 28th).

Spring Break starts Monday March 14th.  We will not have class over Spring Break.

An approximation of the schedule under which we will finish Chapter 16 is in the homework section.  By that projection Exam #3 will be on March 29th.

Exam 2 is graded and will be returned in class February 28th.  Those who will receive midterm grades will also be informed.  We will start Chapter 16 Tuesday March 1st.

Exam 2 is Friday February 23rd.  It will be an in class exam.  You will be allowed to use notes handwritten on one side of a 3"x5" note card.  You will present the note card to me at the beginning of the testing period.

All late homework is due in class Monday February 14th.

The curve for exam 1 has been posted in the exams section.

A new section has been added to the links above called exam.  It contains the practice exams and solutions.  It will also have the curve for the exam, if there is one.  (It will probably contain the actual exams and solutions once the test has been administered).

Here is a link to Jess Campbell's old exams and reviews for Calc 3.  I think there are some valuable resources here.

I have tentatively scheduled Exam 1 for Monday, February 7th.  We will take a vote in class to decide how to best spend that Friday.  I hope to have a Practice Exam done soon.

The Math Help Room in Carver 285 has new hours.  It will be open:
Monday:  9-1 and 2-4
Tuesday: 9-2
Wednesday: 9-2
Thursday: 9-4

The group project and all paperwork have been posted in the above link.  Please read through all material and bring any questions you have to class or e-mail them to me.  You need to have your groups formed by Friday, along with the name of the person that each person will evaluate.

I have decided to add a semester long project to the course.  It will be an exercise in mathematics writing, along with some calculus.  This will be a group project for between 4 and 5 people per group.  There will be time in class on Friday January 21st to find a group so please attend class that day.  If you do not find a group for yourself, you will be appointed one.  I want to have a list of all groups by next Friday (January 28th).  This project will be worth 100 points.

The first homework assignment is due tomorrow (Friday January 21st).  It is posted in the homework section.

Welcome to Calc 3!  Check this website early and often as it will have important information, homework assignments, and relevant class links.
