Assignment 3
Self Analysis #3
It is 5:30am. I have just finished revising my paper. As it turned out, revising the essay is harder than writing the original. Here is a simple analogy. Writing an essay a lot like giving birth to a child. You conceive, then you carry your “child” for a certain amount of time, and finally, in painful labor, you give birth. This is it. You have the “finished product” with its own life and character. On the other hand, revising an essay is like raising a child. You make great efforts trying to improve his character but your valiant efforts carry no results. Finally, you give up.
Practically speaking, I tried to follow the assignment and used all hints from the assignment sheet and the textbook. I included new materials and reorganized some of my thoughts, but am still somewhat unsatisfied with the result. Probably, my biggest problem was that I liked the way my first assignment was written. It did not mean there were no mistakes or inconsistencies, but I felt it was an integral whole.
I do not know if my new essay is better or worse than its initial version. I think I need to give myself a break and read my new essay again after a while. Maybe then I will become more optimistic.
