Introduction

The Bibliography for Rhetoric, Composition, and Professional Communication has been enhanced to provide with you with greater flexibility. As before, you can browse by author's last name and by title of featured journals. In addition, you can now conduct keyword searches on the bibliography database.

The new title reflects the wider scope of the enhanced version. The bibliography now contains citations for over 7,600 articles and books dealing with issues related to rhetoric, composition, professional communication, and associated topics, such as linguistics, psychology, and philosophy.

In addition, the bibliography will eventually include complete table of contents listings for 19 featured journals running from 1975 (or first year of publication) to the current year. Currently, this portion of the bibliography is about 60% complete.

System Requirements

Your browser must support JavaScript 1.2 or JScript 3.0 for the bibliography functions to work properly. Browsers such as Netscape Navigator 4.0 and Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.01 SP1 support Javascript 1.2 and JScript 3.0

If you do not have the latest version of your favorite browser, check with the software manufacturer or your departmental computer guru.

Browsers which do not support JavaScript 1.2 or JScript 3.0 will probably cause your computer to crash.

Note for MacIntosh Users: Internet Explorer 4.0 for MacIntosh apparently has a bug which prevents it from correctly reading the JScript files. Microsoft has issued IE 4.0a which appears to correct this problem.

Opening the Bibliography

Because of the large number of citations, opening the bibliography may take several minutes. For example, if you are connected via a 56K modem, you can expect downloading to take about 3 minutes. If you are connected via a 14.4K modem, you can expect downloading to take about 9 minutes.

However, once open, browsing and searching will take only a few seconds on computers faster than 200 MHz. Computers with slower clock speeds will still work, but browsing and searching performance will be slow, especially on computers with speeds less than 100 MHz.
