In the past, not many people accepted the use of cosmetics because it was said to be immoral. For those women who used cosmetics would be thought of as prostitutes or not decent women. This shows that people in the past judged others very dependently on their appearance. Later, between World War I to 1930, the use of cosmetics gradually grew and became very popular among women. They needed to wear cosmetics in order to go to work. After 1930, many advertisements about cosmetics were shown widely in magazines. The use of cosmetics was no longer seen as a sign of vanity.
