Blues Great Doug MacLeod Live on WOI Labor Day Barbecue!
Doug MacLeod, an internationally acclaimed blues singer,
guitarist and songwriter, will headline WOI Radio's live Labor
Day broadcast. Originating by satellite from an all-day
barbecue in a small-town Iowa location, the event will culminate
WOI's nine days of specials called Iowa Week.
MacLeod has performed throughout North America and Europe in
clubs and festivals. In its upcoming August issue, Acoustic
Guitar magazine calls his latest album a "fantastic
live-to-two-track recording, but the real excitement is created
by MacLeod's sincere vocal delivery and his highly rhythmic
acoustic guitar accompaniment." (The album, You Can't Take My
Blues, features 12 original songs and is on the Audioquest
label.)
Blues Revue says, "MacLeod is not a mere imitator of a style,
but one of the vibrant voices that will keep this sound alive
into the next century."
The September 2 broadcast on WOI will also include performances
by local musicians, interviews, and a variety of features.
