My Life Story

I was born in 1983 in Midland, Michigan. I spent my entire childhood there, attending Plymouth Elementary, Northeast Junior High, and Midland High School. I have an older brother and through him a beautiful young niece. My mother was a librarian, who later worked at a used bookstore and my father worked for Dow Chemical company but now teaches Science at a charter school. I was a studious kid, who was not very athletic, but had a variety of interests including theater, music, history, and languages.
I went to college at Hope College, a liberal arts institution in Holland, Michigan. I was originally undeclared, but quickly decided to major in Mathematics. I hated mathematics throughout most of my life, but enjoyed geometry and calculus. After taking the higher level math courses, I quickly gravitated there. I also majored in Classical Studies which allowed me to explore my interests in history and language (I took 6 semesters of Ancient Greek).
After College, I was accepted to the graduate program at ISU and have been here since. This is the beginning of my fourth year and I am getting close to finishing my PhD. After that, who knows? I'll probably be an alchemist, soldier of fortune, or rock star. Only time will tell.
