Some Useful Links
I've given some thought to how many links to include, if for no other reason than that I have a considerable range of interests. I mean, I could include a link to the Imperial War Museum, or to The Cohousing Network, or even to the National Space Society, but once I started doing that, I'd be up to the top of my head in links to all the myriad interests I do have. So here are a few of the more important ones:This set is related to my academic odyssey:
- Iowa State University and the ISU Sociology Department
- The American Sociological Association, one of the professional organizations of which I am a member.
- The Midwest Sociological Society, another professional organization of which I am a member.
Okay, I admit it. I play strategy games and role-playing games (neither frequently since I began my dissertation). Check these sites out:
- The World of Tekumel, devoted to the incredible creation of Prof. M.A.R. Barker, the world of Tekumel.
- Far Future Enterprises, the website of Marc Miller's company reprinting Traveller, Twilight 2000, and 2300AD - all excellent role-playing games originally produced by Game Designers Workshop.
These are related to some of my other activities and interests:
- The Celtic Dance Society, a fun bunch of energetic Scots and their friends; we meet on Monday nights in ISU's Memorial Union.
- The Rosebud Sioux Tribe; I am a tribal member (yes, that makes me Native American).
- Dreamhaven Books - calling it an excellent science fiction bookstore would be wholly inadequate.
- ...or you can email Uncle Hugo's SF Bookstore - the other excellent SF bookstore in the Twin Cities.
- The Carl Brandon Society, of which I am a founding board member.
- The Interstitial Arts Foundation, for whom I also serve as a board member.
