Design of Aerospace Systems

This is a course on design. The responsibility to deliver is on you. The faculty of the department is here to guide you in this process. This course will be handled as outlined:

1. The entire class will decide on a project to work on.
2. We want the title of the design and a brief outline(RFP) by January 21.
3. You will produce a full proposal by January 28.

a. Title of the project

b. Utility of the product, try to sell it to the management

c. Trade studies on various configuration and try to choose a configuration

d. Design aspects involved, such as Aerodynamics, Structures, Control, and Propulsion etc.

e. You have to form the teams for each of the design aspect.

f. Each team will have a team leader

g. There will be two overall leaders; they should also be part of the design teams.

4. Every two weeks we will meet in this room, and each group will present to us the progress report.

The faculty resources for various areas of design are assigned for the semester. They will be your guides in these areas.

· Management

· Aerodynamics

· Structures

· Stability & Controls

· Propulsion

Please inform the faculty through an email as to the type of question you have and roughly the time you anticipate it will take. Email will be used for setting up time and appointments and not question and answer sessions. This will help faculty to schedule their time. The time in the brackets against a faculty denote the ONLY times when they will entertain you. Inform them in advance
