Fitting a Line in JMP®

Section 1: Making a Fitted Line Plot

  1. Launch JMP and create a new data table.

  2. Enter the data.

  3. Generate a fitted line plot of the data.

    JMP fits a line to the points, plots the line, and displays an analysis of the fit.

Section 2: Obtaining Additional Numerical Summaries

  1. Save predicted densities for the pressures given in the table.

    JMP saves the predicted densities to a new column in the data table.

  2. Save the residuals.

    JMP saves the density residuals to a new column in the data table.

Section 3: Generating Additional Plots

  1. Plot Residuals vs. Pressure.

    JMP plots Residuals vs. Pressure and appends the plot to the current window.

  2. Generate a Normal Plot of the Residuals.

    JMP generates a normal plot and displays it in the current window.
