GEM Germplasm Releases and Key Traits has been updated on June 11, 2014. The total number of the GEM releases is 265.
The USDA-ARS GEM Project and the Iowa State University Doubled Haploid Facility have collaborated to develop doubled haploid lines for public uses. Here is the announcement and the explanations and you should read this one first. Click here to get a list of the released lines along with additional information. There are 3 worksheets in this file (April 9, 2014).
The report of multi-disease evaluations, along with nitrogen efficiency and drought tolerance evaluations from CAAS are available online now (April 7, 2014).
Summit Genetics, LLC has become the new GEM cooperator and listed on The GEM Cooperator List (March 11, 2014).

ANNOUNCEMENT: Germplasm Enhancement of Maize (GEM) Project Field Day (Posted on August 7, 2013).

GEM 20th Anniversary Field Day

Time: September 20, 2013 from 8:30 AM to 5 PM

Place: North Central Regional Plant Introduction Station (NCRPIS), Ames, IA

The GEM Project will host its annual Field Day and recognize its 20th Anniversary on Friday, September 20.  During the first hour (8:30-9:30 AM) special recognition of the occasion will be made with comments from Iowa State University and USDA-ARS officials, and from GEM cooperators who have been instrumental to development of the project.  Visitors can arrive at their leisure anytime from 8:30-5:00 since tours will be given throughout the day.

Visitors will tour plots on the history of the GEM Project including germplasm resources and development, doubled haploid breeding, and released GEM lines and top crosses.    

GEM Germplasm Releases and Key Traits has been updated on August 1, 2013. The total number of the GEM releases is 258.
