The University Committee on Women (UCW) is a diverse group of women from across the Iowa State University campus. UCW is an active and involved network that responds actively to women's issues including monitoring and improving the number of women in leadership positions at ISU, with special attention to the need for more women department chairs, and also continuing work to improve the climate on campus for women students, staff and faculty.

A tribute to ISU Women

News & Updates

Vet Med College is current focus of trends reports

Tanya Zanish-Belcher is leading a team reviewing the status of women in the College of Veterinary Medicine. The report will be the latest in a series by the UCW. Previous college reports looked at the College of Design (2009) (Inside Iowa State), Business (2008), and Engineering (2005). View full reports on the UCW website.

Cross-unit Planning Team Report

As part of the process to build an FY11 university budget, five small teams of faculty and staff were appointed to review functions or programs that cross administrative or academic units. A report Multicultural, Diversity and Women's Activities, Programs and Services (MDWAPS) was completed in March 2010.

"Being a part of UCW is a marvelous experience and perhaps without even knowing it, a great mentoring opportunity to sit in on meetings and retreats learning about our institution, the strategies our committee employed and the workings of the system. This type of networking and mentoring is important to young, inexperienced staff members of ISU and will continue to reach out to others."
