I. Announcements/ Comments from Committee Members:
Catherine Fox posted the Status of Women Report on the UCW website so candidates for the Provost position were able to read the report prior to their campus visit.
Thanks to Jim Litt for submitting a request to the President’s office for two separate forums addressing diversity concerns during the interviews for the Provost position.

II. New Business:
The members discussed the strengths and weaknesses of each Provost candidate in order to submit recommendations to the selection committee by Thursday, November 21st.

III. Subcommittee Reports:

Title IX/Gender Equity
Penny submitted a two-page report listing plans for upcoming events in December and February. Activities for these months include UCW-Theme Day "Celebrating Title IX & Looking Forward", sponsorship of a basketball game, panel discussions and other campus presentations. Faculty Status
Ben Allen encouraged the following people (i.e. Dr. Gmelch, Dean
of the College of Education, Carla Espinoza, Director, Human Resources, Jim Bledel, Vice Provost for Research and Advanced Studies and John Mayfield, Graduate College) to read the Status of Women Report, in addition to speaking with Liz Beck and Ann Thompson.

Graduate Student
Gail presented the first part of a report addressing concerns of graduate students on campus. Comments from the 236 participants dealt with childcare issues, a need of fostering a supportive environment in the department and on campus, cost of prescriptions, and lack of coverage of insurance for request such as mammograms. The committee will submit the final report in February.

Institutional Report
Liz Beck-The committee will give a report at the December meeting.
