I. Introduction of Megan Gustafson:
Megan Gustafson is the undergraduate student representative on the UCW
for 2002-03.
II. Announcements/Issues/Concerns to be brought forward?
Contact Penny Rice, if interested in participating in mentoring program
on campus.

III. Executive Committee Members:
The members for this year are Jackie Litt (past president); Caroloyn Heising
(Faculty), Linda Charles (P& S) and Lynn Lundy (Merit)
IV. Sustaining Members-Penny Rice:
A motion was made and accepted to remove the Sustaining Members from the governance
document of UCW. The document should read: Womens Leadership Consortium:
Two permanent representatives from WLC will be the Director of the Womens
Center and the Chair of Faculty Senate-Women and Minorities Subcommittee. A
third WLC representative will rotate among WLC members.
V. Womens Leadership Consortium Update:
a. administrative internships Still in the process of being developed.
VI. Subcommittee Reports:
Arrival of Children
Connie Post met with Provost Allen in September in order to discuss issues related
to the Family Leave Policy. The time-frame for implementation of this policy
is being reviewed by the Board of Regents.
Copies of the memo from Provost Allen addressing six concerns raised by the
report -Status of Women at Iowa State University were passed out at the meeting.
P & S Status no report
College of Engineering
Carolyn Heising shared that their next meeting
is October 30th.
Institutional Data
Ingrid Lilligren reported that tasks have been assigned to committee members.
Examining the design and use of exit interviews on campus is the primary focus
of the committee. Employees planning on leaving must use this as an opportunity
to share information about their experiences on campus.
Faculty Status
Ann Thompson-There was a meeting with the Provost Allen to discuss the report on the Status
of Women at Iowa State University and the need to identify women for senior
administrative positions on campus.
Graduate Students
Gail Wallace-The committee is in the process of compiling
feedback from graduate students on campus. The information should be collected
by the end of February.
Merit Staff-no report
Title IX/Gender Equity
Penny Rice, Julie Manning-
The search for the Senior Womens Administrators position is still underway.
The womens hockey team is experiencing problems in terms of receiving
the same amount of access to the ice as their male counterparts. The committee
will continue to monitor the situation.
VII. Provost Search Committee:
Susan Carlson reported that the search committee planned on conducting airport
interview from Nov. 8th-12th. The goal is to have someone in place by Thanksgiving.
The committee discussed the importance of UCW members attending the open forums
in order to ensure issues related to women, leadership positions, Status of
women report were addressed with each candidate.
