Penny indicated that the March minutes would be placed on the web shortly.
Shauna Hallmark volunteered to take notes for today’s meeting
A report was made on the faculty conduct policy, which has been delayed since a quorum was not present for voting. Several UCW members discussed wording and Penny indicated that there did not appear to be any serious changes needed.
Penny indicated that a small membership committee is needed to solicit member for next year. Two faculty, 1 merit, 2 P&S, and all student positions are open. She asked for names of individuals to nominate. The position of Chair and Vice Chair also need to be filled. Volunteers were solicited for the membership committee.
The recent budget cuts at Iowa State and the impact on women’s programs were discussed. Diane suggested that since most women’s programs already are small programs, that even small cuts could be devastating. Suggestions were made to track both the qualitative and quantitative impacts of budget cuts on these programs.
The leave policy draft is currently at the President’s Cabinet and as soon as it is out of Cabinet additional groups will receive the draft.
Associate Provost: it was reported that a short list has been made but that the names are not yet available.
Women’s Center: Judy reported that the search committee met April 25th but that attendance was low. She also indicated that it was still under discussion.
Dean College of Veterinary Medicine. It was reported that the first candidate had visited campus and that the second one should have made a visit but that the Committee was being cautious about releasing candidate names
Mentoring: they indicated that they had not yet met but would shortly. They also reported on the survey and indicated that 141 people were emailed with about 60 responses.
Policy: presented a copy of their report, which the UCW members discussed.
Campus Climate: nothing to report
Penny indicated that end of year reports were due for subcommittees.
Penny announced the next meeting and final meeting for the year, Thursday May 17, 2001 and asked for a count of who planned to attend. She indicated that she was planning a reception to invite the Provost.s
