Special Events: Women in Touch

Attendance is dropping at the Women in Touch -- Depts. are reluctant to pay if not work related (political). Discussion on using money available to merit and P & S for scholarships. Need new topics, panel discussions, new packaging.

Topics include law, time management, stress, gender communication. Include line regarding scholarships in brochure.

Upcoming Events:

Letter to Editor re response to sports column. His response -- "Tough."

Tenure report: Memo to Provost, 2/24/1997
3 weeks later -- extension granted. Last Sat. Ms. Wolff received termination notice effective May '98. She's 62 years old.

Ms. Wolff will file an appeal. Provost Kozak asked Nancy "why don't women defend themselves?" Retaliation. Concerns expressed regarding our place in issues regarding tenure. We don't have both sides, only Norma's. Termination letter may be legal requirement. We need to know that before we respond.

Supporting individuals can be dangerous, need to show support for women in general. Focus should be to make sure she talks to the people she needs to, gets info on her rights. Decision made to not send memo.

Summer meeting? Yes, July 2, 5-7, potluck at 111 Lynn Party Room.

Reception for new faculty and staff will be held this fall. Pat Miller volunteered to help.

Women's Studies Search: offer extended to Nancy. Will decide by mid-summer.

May 8: Mark Shandley, Open Forum for VP for Student Affairs.

Three women deans are stepping down.

Discussed recruitment and retention of women deans.
