As part of its national educational activities, SWE administers over 100 individual scholarship awards annually, varying in amount from $1000 to over $5,000 per year and totaling more than $200,000. All grants are announced in the late spring or summer for use during the following academic year. Grant payments are made in the fall for corporate-sponsored scholarships and in both the fall and spring for endowed scholarships, upon proof of registration.

The ELA Foundation seeks to fund programs of organizations that are led by or support the work of people with disabilities with an emphasis on programs for women and girls. We especially encourage distinctive projects where the organization is making a difference nationally or internationally. We are interested in programs that are supported by the local community and meet the needs of people with disabilities in that community. We are involved in the areas of education, advocacy, mentoring, and leadership development.
