Reflection
I have learned a lot within the four years at Iowa State University. I have developed a great appreciation for education, not only as way to a better job but mainly as a tool for expanding world understanding. I made friends from all over the world, people of different races, belief and opinions. Its my outmost graditutes to all who have made this journey what it is. I particularly thank my parents for doing all they could to help me remain in school semester after semester.
Academically my skills have greatly improved, at this stage i can solve more complex engineering problems be it equation and real life sciences applied to everyday life. Working in the Senior design class taught me how to funtion as a team, particularly we learned how to create a project and present it in profesional way. The process of creating a project is tiresome and takes a lot of details and patience, concistency is highly developed.Good project plan is the key to successful contract.
Iowa state to me is not just about the acedemic knowledge, rather the knowledge to manipulate events succesfully in life. This is important for me becouse i plan to get into business where success is not always guaranteed, i have learned not to give up even when things are not going well. Engineering has taught me to be creative well enough to servive in business world despite lack of business training. During my time at ISU I have had many different classes. These classes have helped me understand the inportance of working hard.
Communication is very important in life, it is the key to every success. Writing classes alongside my interaction with other student over the four years has greatly enhance my ability to pass any message across. Outside school in my internship i learned alot about business, the most important being how to network, competition and how to deal with customers, supplier and employees.
Finally during my stay here, i learned to be financially responsible, at least back in Kenya i did not pay much attention to finaces, not becouse i had alot of money but rather cos i lived with my parents and therefore could sleep, eat and never worry. When i look back, it pleases me that i can plan my finances relatively well.
