Current Status: Master student in Computer Science, Iowa State University
Education
•Master research in Computer Science, Iowa State University; Ames, IA, U.S.A.; Spring 2009.
•Master research in Toxicology; Iowa State University; Ames, IA, U.S.A.; Fall 2004-2008.
• 6/2000: Bachelor of Agriculture degree in Veterinary Medicine, Shandong Agriculture University, Tai’an, Shandong, P.R.China
Honors
•2004 Outstanding Incoming Graduate Student Award, by the office of Biotechnology department, Iowa State University.
Research Experience:
* Fall 2004 - 2008. Bryony Bonning, Ph.D. Department of Entomology, Iowa State University.
My project was to identify mechanisms of insecticidal action of a basement membrane-degrading protease expressed and delivered by a recombinant baculovirus. Our findings are that the protease activity alone can kill insects through damage to the basement membrane without viral pathogenicity, and that enhanced insecticidal efficacy of the recombinant baculovirus was not caused by altered dissemination and secondary infection of the virus, but it was caused by fragmentation of internal tissues due to basement membrane damage. Three manuscripts resulted from this project so far.
* Fall 2001-Dec. 2003 College of Veterinary Medicine, China Agricultural University, Beijing, P.R.China.
My project was to build detection method of avermectin in environmental water and soil by high performance liquid chromatograph (HPLC).
