Herta and H.T. David Scholarship in Mathematics
The Herta and H.T. David Scholarship in Mathematics is given to one student per year.
The amount of the scholarship varies, but it is usually approximately $2000 per year. The
scholarship is renewable, so any recipient of the scholarship may apply for the award in
subsequent years as long as he/she meets the stated requirements and is making satisfactory
progress towards his/her degree. The scholarship targets students who have financial need
and are from challenging family backgrounds, representing a unique situation that might
prevent the recipient from considering a college education at Iowa State University.
Professor H.T. David was Professor of Statistics, Professor of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering, and University Professor at ISU. He received his bachelor's degree from Harvard in 1947, his M.A. from Columbia in 1948, and his Ph.D. from Chicago in 1960. He came to ISU in 1956.
