Just last week we were witness to the passing of our very dear friend and brother Knight, Ken Simmons. Only a couple of months before, I had asked Ken to say a few words at our council meeting because our Chaplain, Msgr. Supple, was unable to attend. Without hesitation Ken agreed to talk to our members, and gave, as always, a rousing presentation. I will remember that evening and the evening of his wake when so many individuals came forward to tell of how Ken had touched their lives. Please keep Ken and his family in your prayers and know that...he's probably blowing on Gabriel's horn now.
I would like to extend a special thank you to those Knights who helped with Ken's service. Several members were present to stand watch the night before the funeral: Dennis Bovee,John CoderJohn Kleinschmidt, Dick Matt, Jim Hogan, Lou Richert and GregJunk. The morning of Ken's funeral the Fourth Degree was present to show our respect. Those attending were: Bob Dahlgren, Walt Albers, Mike Heitzman, and Dick Matt.
At the February meeting the council voted to sponsor a Fish Fry which will be held at St. Cecilia's every other Friday during Lent beginning with Friday, March 17th.
Wednesday, March 8th is Ash Wednesday and also our regularly scheduled business meeting, so we will be serving a delicious lentil soup with rolls after 5:30 Mass and before the meeting. We will also be conducting a First Degree ceremony at this meeting, so take this opportunity to ask a friend or co-worker to join the Knights of Columbus.
Yours in Christ, Terry
