Dear Brothers Knights:
Most of us are aware that Advent is the time for preparing for the coming of Christ. Sometimes we are aware that it is also a preparation for His Second Coming at the end of the world. But there is a third coming, which is even more important, than the other two comings. That is the entry of Jesus into our daily lives, which we sometimes ignore or are not real attentive to His presence. Scripture scholar Steven Doyle puts it this way, "There is nothing in this world that makes sense apart from Christ. The singing of the birds and the tinl;ling of the rain and the roar of the ocean all have one thing to say: We were made for the sake of Jesus Christ.
" I like it better the way the poet Joseph Mary Plunkett puts it in a more positive way,
And in the stars the glory of His eyes.
His body gleams amid the eternal snows;
His tears fall from the skies.
I see His face in every flower;
The Thunder and the singing of the birds
Are but His voice - and carven by His power
Rocks are His written words.
All pathways by His feet are worn
His strong heart stirs the ever beating sea.
His crown of thorns is twined with every thorn
And His cross is every tree.I see His blood upon the rose
