Leroy D. Sturges
Department of Aerospace Engineering
Hi... My name is Leroy Sturges and I am an associate professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering here at Iowa State University . (Abbreviated Vita )
I received all of my degrees from the Department of Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics at the University of Minnesota. Between my bachelor's and master's degrees, I was in the Air Force working as an Engineering Analyst for the Foreign Technology Division of Air Force Systems Command. I left the Air Force in 1972 as a captain.
I have been at Iowa State University since the Fall of 1977. My primary teaching duties have been teaching service courses in engineering mechanics (statics, mechanics of materials, dynamics, fluid mechanics). My area of research is fluid mechanics - particularly low Reynold's number viscous fluid mechanics and non-Newtonian fluid mechanics.
William F. Riley (Distinguished Professor emeritus, Iowa State University) and I have published textbooks in Statics and Dynamics . More recently, Professor Riley, Don H. Morris (Professor, Virginia Polytechnic Institute), and I have published textbooks in Statics and Mechanics of Materials: An Integrated Approach and Mechanics of Materials. While all authors would like to catch all errors in the page-proofing stage, we acknowledge that some errors undoubtedly slipped past us. Any corrections that you may find (or any comments that you would like to make) are welcome and may be sent to the address below.
e-mail comments and/or corrections are also welcome.
Finally, I just can't resist adding a humor page. I hope you find something here that makes you smile.
