Benefits

SCS Interns are full-time university professional staff appointed for one year. Salaries are paid from the general university budget, and all benefits available to full time professional staff are included. In addition to FICA, these benefits include health and dental insurance, TIAA-CREF, long-term library loan, 16 hours a month vacation time earned, 12 hours a month sick leave time earned, 6 professional leave days for the year, and access to many university facilities, as well as other optional university benefits.

The projected salary for the 2009-20010 year will be no less than the current salary of $25,750.

To summarize, benefits include:

  1. Twenty-four vacation days per year (Accrued at 16 hours per month worked).
  2. Nine days for University Holidays
  3. Six professional leave days per year.
  4. Professional development money upon application and approval.
  5. Twelve hours per month sick time.
  6. Health and optional dental insurance.
  7. Participation in TIAA-CREF.
  8. Salary of no less than $27,234.
  9. Use of Iowa State University facilities.
  10. Personal computers, printers, & video system in a private office.
