Student Counseling Service THE MISSIONThe Student Counseling Service (SCS) enjoys a reputation as one of the oldest university counseling centers in the United States providing services for students since 1939. The Training Program was also represented as one of the founding members of ACCTA (Association of Counseling Center Training Agents). The mission of SCS is to help students enhance their academic and personal well-being. SCS provides prevention, intervention, information and referral services to Iowa State students. These services are available to help students sort through their feelings, strengths, and options to develop new perspectives and coping skills. SCS also provides consultation and training to faculty and staff to assist them in addressing the psychological needs of students. STAFFSCS professional staff have doctoral and/or master degrees in counseling psychology, clinical psychology, college student personnel, or counselor education.
