Student Counseling Service

Substance Abuse Intervention Program

The SCS Substance Abuse Intervention Program offers substance abuse assessments to help students determine the nature and extent of their alcohol or other drug use, and the impace of this use on their well being. Counselors offer recommendations and referrals for any concerns identified through the assessment.

What You Need to Do To Get Started:

  • Initiate contact with SCS as soon as possible.
  • Ask the front desk staff at SCS for the paperwork for a substance abuse screening or assessment. Please be specific about why you are here, as the center offers a number of services.
  • Fill out the paperwork. The front desk staff will then schedule you to complete the screening inventory in the SCS Testing Office. The cost for this inventory is $10.00. Any inventory you take as part of a screening or assessment is only valid for three months. If you do not complete the entire process within this time frame, you will need to retake the inventory.
  • You will then be contacted by phone or e-mail with your appointment time.
  • Return to SCS for your scheduled appointment.
  • Plan on having more than one appointment.
