Referring Students

Frequently faculty or staff members are concerned about the indecision or the major/career choice that a student makes. It is very helpful in such cases, to speak to the student about whom you are concerned and encourage him/her to contact the Career Exploration Services (CES) for an initial appointment. Alternatively, you could also use the CES as a resource where you refer students for career guidance.

Students can walk-in or call CES to make an appointment for consultations. The CES Graduate Assistants and career counselors are trained to consult with students to assist them with their personal career exploration, through a variety of different ways.

Whom to refer:
Some of the issues that you can refer students to the CES for are:

• Students who are unable to pick a major
• Students who switch majors, but are unable to find a major that “fits”
• Students who would like to explore career options for after their ISU study
• Students interested in applying to graduate school

PLEASE NOTE : Career Exploration Services does not offer resume building or career placement services for students. For these services please contact ISU Career Services.
