Iowa State University

Iowa State University is a land-grant university, founded in 1868, with an enrollment of approximately 27,000 and a staff of 6,000. Iowa State is internationally known for excellence in agriculture, engineering, home economics, physical sciences, and veterinary medicine. Nationally, ISU's Student Affairs Division is well known for creating a positive environment where students' gain a sense of belonging despite the university's size. The student population is diverse with 5% ethnic minority students, 10% international students, and 23% of the students over age 25. The pleasant campus features traditional and innovative architecture with gracious lawns and mature trees.

Iowa State offers all the resources expected of a large university including an extensive library, computer labs, and recreational facilities. Big 12 athletics are a source of entertainment. In addition, the Iowa State Center and the university host numerous cultural events including opera, ballet, theater productions, and rock concerts.
