Diversity at Iowa State

Students from large, metropolitan, areas may find that Ames, Iowa appears fairly homogenous. However, there is diversity at Iowa State University. Almost eight per cent of ISU students identify as African-American, Latino/ Hispanic, Asian American, or American Indian; another eight percent are students from other countries. The eighty-four per cent of "White Americans" have religious and geographic diversity. ISU students come from different states, a range of small town, rural and urban America, and a wide range of religions. For example, there are over fifty student cultural and religious organizations registered with the Student Activities Center.
