Be able to use the correct sign convention for internal shear force and bending moment.
Be able to evaluate the internal shear force and bending moment at a specified cross section in a straight beam.
Be able to evaluate the internal shear force and bending moment as a function of position in a straight beam.
Be able to draw graphs showing the variation of shear force and bending moment in a straight beam.
