Shirlee Singer, Professor of Art and Design/Coordinator of Interior Design
joined the faculty at Iowa State University in August 1993. She teaches
professional practices, internship studies, and all levels of design studios.
She came to Iowa from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge where she
was past Chairman of the Interior Design Department. She practiced professionally
for 12 years designing for local, regional and national government facilities,
Fortune Five Hundred companies, hospitality and health care facilities and
residences. Singer has a national reputation in interior design education,
has been president and chairman of the board of the Interior Design Educators
Council, served on numerous accreditation teams for the Foundation for Interior
Design Education Research, was Secretary/Treasurer of the Louisiana State
Board of Examiners and past president of the Louisiana District Chapter
of the American Society of Interior Designers. Her current research interests
are interior design curriculum and computer imaging.

Shirlee Singer is married to Claud H. Singer and has one son, John Merritt
Williams, who worked diligently to develop this home page. She is active
