8 `Best of the West' (PPV)

January 15 (7 p.m.)-- Live from Big Ed's Box Factory and Storage Warehouse in Albuquerque,NM.

  World Heavyweight Champion: Surfer Dude
Intercontinental Champion: Pirate Pete Tag-Team Champions: Thompson Twins

The Best of the West tournament is in three rounds and you must win to continue on. Title winner receives a gold bullet, $35,000 per PPV for a year and a title and symbol of office of their choosing. Tournament is refereed by the Honors Students who wins title by default if tournament is won by DQ or countout.

1.
*Pirate Pete vs. Honors Student for the Intercontinental Championship
The ``lucky'' Pirate Pete puts up the belt against the leader of the Victorious WrestleWAR Ally Team.
  • Result: Pirate Pete by Submission -- Honors Student started off well and twice had Pirate Pete in his Full Nelson but Pirate Pete pummeled the Student throughout the match and finished him off with a figure-four leglock in the center of the ring.
    2.
    `Best of the West' First Round (Six Minute Match-- must win to continue)
    A. (Duke) Fool Chucker vs. (Western Star) Prince J.J. Flash F.C. favored but J.J. on a roll.
  • Result: Time Limit Draw! Before the match, Flash awarded the crown and title of Prince back to Student. Chucker dominated the match via vicious chops and throws. Flash initially won via top-rope DQ but Tunney continued match. At the end, the King distracted Student while Chucker covered an unconscious Flash. Student ripped away from King, counted two but Flash got his shoulder up.
    B. (Chief Justice) Rustler vs. (The Director) S.A.M. Both longshots-- who really cares?
  • Result: Rustler by pinfall -- S.A.M. went toe-to-toe but the Rustler snuck in a quick rollup.
    C. (King) Mutant vs. (Terminator) Techno Thompson Can the Mutant keep control?
  • Result: Mutant by pinfall -- Mutant's ``Ninja'' Manager helped the Mutant destroyed Techno with a series of chops and bodyslams and finished Techno off with a top-rope karate kick and rollup.
    D. (Caliph) Caliph Ali vs. Thor (God of Thunder) Ali vs. Thor in six minutes?
  • Result: Thor by pinfall - Ali put up a good defense but Thor quickly snapped him in half.
    3.
    *Surfer Dude vs. Bob `Peace' Freeland for the World Title in a Tibetan Wilderness Match with double high ring posts, no north/south ring ropes and the mat covered in soft pine needles
  • Result: Surfer Dude by pinfall -- Peace fresh from the hospital still seemed injured as Dude hit Peace with a series of chops and finished Peace off with a fantastic Vertical Splash from the top of a double-high ring post. Lenny showed up after the match to taunt Dude and his bodyguard Max.
    4.
    A Special Announcement by President Joe Tunney Mr. Tunney announced that an additional Tag Match for the World Tag Title had been added to this PPV. Coaxed by the King and Queen, Student Prince announced that he would award his chance at the B.O.T.W. title tonight to J.J. Flash.

    `Best of the West' Second Round (Ten Minute ``Falls Count Anywhere'' Match)

  • Result: (Chief Justice) Rustler gets Bye to the final!
    F. (King) Mutant vs. Thor (God of Thunder) Pretty even match.
  • Result: Mutant by DQ Thor got the early advantage but Mutant's Ninja Manager makes the save with the 2x4. Later Mutant had Thor wrapped up and Thor's Manager got caught on the run-in.
    6.
    Main Event: Little Green Man vs. Johnny Vogue -- with Guest Referee Lenny, the Pipefitter. Vogue had sent L.G.M. to the hospital and now L.G.M. was looking for some heavy revenge.
  • Result: L.G.M. by pinfall -- L.G.M. punished Vogue then pinned Vogue in the center of the ring. To add insult to injury, L.G.M. clipped Vogue on the way out with the flying saucer.
    7.
    `Best of the West' Final Round (Fifteen Minute ``Best Two out of Three Falls'' Match)
    G. (King) Mutant vs. (Chief Justice) Rustler - Rustler assisted by `The Executioner'?
  • Result: Mutant won first match via DQ then Rustler DQ'ed from tournament. Mutant won tournament but J. J. Flash won title and was crowned the `Western Star' J. J. Flash.
    8.
    *Thompson Twins vs. Nuts & Bolts for the World Tag Titles with Techno already injured...
  • Result: Nuts & Bolts by pinfall - New Tag Champions! Turbo and Techno dominated Banzai early but then Lenny came in, cleaned house and eventually pinned Turbo for the win.
