Edison Carter, ace video reporter for Network 23, tracks down the strange case of a person literally exploding but is pulled off-the-air at the last minute by his own Network's board. After being told specifically to drop the story, Edison forges ahead with the help of his new controller Theora Jones. Together they track down the problem to Network 23's thirteenth floor and a mysterious head of Research and Development named Bryce Lynch who has a rebus tape that might explain everything. Suddenly Edison's old controller Gorrister winds up dead and Edison is forced to work against his own network's security to break one of the biggest stories of his career.

Exploding persioners, mysterious pictures, a chase on the non-existant thirteenth floor... Is Edison Carter destinged for fame and glory or is he just taking a short cut to the body bank?
