COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course will cover the following topics
1. Theory of Point Estimation ( ch 7, ch 10)
2. Data Reduction Principles ( ch.6)
3. Testing of Hypotheses (ch 8)
4. Interval Estimation (ch 9)
5. Special Topics (Time permitting).
COURSE GRADE: Your grade for this course will be determined by your performance on homework assignments (10%), two midterm exams (25%each), and the final exam (40%).
HOMEWORK: A Homework set, containing about four problems will be assigned on Mondays as per the schedule given below. For on-campus students at ISU, all Homework sets are due by 11am, next Monday. For off-campus students, these are due in one week's time at the on-site course co-ordinator's office. Upto two of the assigned problem will be graded. Solutions for all the problems will be given.

EXAMS: There will be two midterm exams and a comprehensive final exam. The date of the final exam will be announced later. A make-up exam is not given unless there is a verifiable serious reason.
