Herbicide Rinsewater

Research Objective:

.The objective of this work is to evaluate the potential of a sequencing batch bioreactor for the treatment of wastewaters containing herbicides. In phase I, we are focusing specifically on treatment of atrazine and 2,4-D. Our specific goals are to determine optimal HRT, evaluate the system performance under long HRTs and low temperature simulating low treatment volumes during winter months, and to determine feasibility for achievement of biotreatment goals with synthetic and actual rinsewater. Pending the results of phase I, phase II will aim to focus on pilot-scale studies.
