Message from the President

November 6, 1997

I look forward to an exciting year as the new President of the Nez Perce National Historical Trail Foundation. As you know, the most successful organizations place a high value on the people who support and contribute to its success. Therefore, please consider this an open invitation to get involved in the various acitivities of the NPNHTF. We held our first organizational meeting last month and identified some areas for development. They include membership, a newsletter, fundraising and updating the by-laws. Although, these may sound a little on the boring side, there are areas where you can pitch in to lend your expertise, your presence and your enthusiasm. Membership is a key area of development where you can help. We thought about the possibility to establishing regional chapters of the NPNHTF, where you can work on projects specific to your area and interest. In this way, as members you can recruit other people in your area to join in on projects.

I am happy to report that due largely to the great organizational skills of the past President and Board members, we have money in our account to begin the new year. I want to thank all the people who have over the last years given so generously of their time and expertise to this organization, including the past officers, board members and general membership. As we reach the year 2000 and beyond, the interest and uniqueness of the Nez Perce Trail will become even more apparent and appreciated.

Please call me or any of the board members with ideas, suggestions or comments on how to best improve our organization. I can be reached at 208-843-2253, ext. 2301; or you can e-mail me at Until the next go round.
