Welcome to my homepage. I am an associate professor of Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) and Applied Linguistics in the English Department at Iowa State University.
My areas of interest include sociolinguistics, pragmatics, and gender and language.
I am a member of Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), a professional association of over 16,000 members worldwide. I will serve as TESOL's president from March 1999 to March 2000. Do check out pictures from a party celebrating the election.
