Sesquicentennial Award:

  • Sesquicentennial "Learning to Live a Life" Award
This award was established in 2008 by the University's Sesquicentennial administrative committee as a legacy to ISU's 150th birthday. It takes its name from a quote by M.J. Riggs: "We come to college not alone to prepare to make a living, but to learn to live a life." In that spirit, this award annually recognizes a student who has taken advantage of opportunities at Iowa State University to apply his or her knowledge to real life projects and experiences. The recipient must be a junior or senior at the time the award is applied (Fall 2010). The amount of this award is $3,000, divided between two semesters.
