Christine Shimkus grew up in the Ames area, graduating from Gilbert
High School. While she spent her first year of college at Northwest
Missouri State University, she returned to Ames and Iowa State for
her Sophomore year. Christine graduated from ISU, earning a Bachelor’s
of Science in English with a double emphasis in Literature and Rhetorical
& Professional Communications.
Following graduation, Christine moved to Germany to work
for the Armed Forces Recreation Centers (AFRC) and Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The travel and
experiences provided during this time were an irreplaceable education
of their own. After two years in Germany, she moved back to the States
and settled in Jacksonville, Florida, where she attended school for
massage therapy at Heritage Institute. Upon completion of her massage
program, Christine decided to return to Iowa to begin her practice
and spend time with family and friends still in the area.
Christine joined the Student Affairs team March 2006 and
greatly enjoys the office, her co-workers, and being able to be a part
of a group that strives toward the betterment of student life and Iowa
State. Outside of Iowa State, she continues to build her practice and
spends quality time with family and friends.
