Math 165 - Calculus I, Exam 2
Scores, model solutions
Exam 2 scores are on WebCT now - at least for most people. Some sections were delayed, apparently, but this should now also be fixed.
This exam is graded out of 80.
Scores for makeup exams are included.
Model solutions for practice and real exams are also on WebCT. Tell me about errors in any of the model solutions!
I will publish known errors on the model solutions page in WebCT after fixing them.
Time, Place
The exam will be during class time in the usual classroom on Wednesday, March 9.
Material covered
Sections 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 4.4 of the textbook, excluding Least Squares from 4.4.
Calculators will be allowed. In fact, you may need one that can at least do basic arithmetic and trig functions.

- Critical points of f
- Concave up, concave down, inflection points and the sign of f''
- Maxima, Minima (local)
- First Derivative Test (sign of f' changes)
- Second Derivative Test for stationary points

Practice for the exam
- Look at homework questions, not just the hand-in questions.
- Look at the relevant section of the textbook and the worked examples there.
- If that still leaves questions, see or email your TA. Or go to SI, or the Math Help Room, or see me (if you cannot make regular consulting hour, make an appointment by email).
- Here is a practice exam - apologies for the delay! A model solution is on WebCT now.
Our exam will be similar, only shorter.
You should be able to do 4 problems of this one in 50 minutes.
- Attend review lecture on Monday.
The practice exam is not a good way of learning the material - only for practicing the exam situation.
