PRE-TRIP ORIENTATION

The class will meet for 15 contact hours prior to departure.  During this time students will be provided information important for the trip as well as background information related to sport and culture in the United States and Malaysia.  A tentative list of pre-trip activities are listed below.

Basic study abroad orientation - Study Abroad Center staff

Information on travel, clothing, food, and other travel related issues - Rich Engelhorn

Basic orientation to Malaysia and Malaysian culture - Rich Engelhorn and Malaysian students

Readings and discussion of US sport organizations and structures - Rich Engelhorn

Readings and discussion of US history and culture and effect on the development of sport in the US - Rich Engelhorn

Viewing and discussion of the video "Bend it like Beckham"  (2 Hours)
