Response 2

Our second set of essays were written in response to Ruth Hubbard's essay "Science, Facts, and Feminism." In her essay Hubbard critiques the idea of objectivity-whether absolute truth is in fact possible or whether all facts are influenced by some degree of subjectivity.

The assignment was to select one claim or set of claims from Hubbard's essay and explain what these claims meant to us. Then we were to state a response to this claim (agreement, disagreement, confusion, etc.) and support our responses with specific examples. Lastly, from the way we responded to the claim, we were to determine what our personal assumptions were regarding the nature of reality.
