Themes: BUS, CIT, DSN, ELPS & EAP, FSHN, ISU Comm, NREM ISUComm eDocDesign Team Leaders: Dr. Michael Mendelson
& Dr. Lee Honeycutt Purpose: Course portfolio, Learning, and Assessment The cross-campus ISUComm initiative launched as part of e-Doc project Phase I assists in the development of ISU graduates’ communication skills. In achieving this goal, composition instruction strives to meet the demands of the multi-media environment in which written communication now commonly appears. Thus, the ISUComm course portfolio (not a personal portfolio as other themes in the e-Doc project) is not only an assessment tool, but a learning tool that teaches students to work individually and collaboratively in the electronic environment. ISUComm eDoc is currently used in two pilot first-year composition classes. It allows students to submit their artifacts and reflections electronically and receive feedback from their classmates and the instructor. eDoc also serves as a great management tool that helps instructors organize students’ writing collaborations. |
