Educational Goals
My educational goals are to graduate with a degree in materials engineering by the year 2011. Between that time, I also hope to participate in work study and to study overseas. I am also very interested in research and hope to participate in various research opportunities.
Academic
My academic interests are concentrated in the math and science area. This will help me accomplish my goal of graduating with a degree in materials engineering with an emphasis in biology.
In high school, I participated in many co-curricular activities. I was in actively involved in Computer/Math/Science Club (CMS) and the National Honor Society. My senior year I was elected to be President of the CMS Club and was in charge of the food stand during basketball games and wrestling tournaments. Upon graduation, I was selected Most Outstanding Senior for the CMS Club.
I also participated in many science competitions including: Physics Olympics, Science Olympiad, Science Bowl, and Knowledge Bowl. My greatest accomplishment was earning second place at the state level for two subcompetitions for Science Olympiad.
During my junior year, I was selected to represent my school at the World Food Prize Youth Symposium the fall of my senior year. This was an eye-opening experience to the nutrition and food security in Third World countries, in particular the country of Bangladesh. (Bangladesh was the focus of my research.)
I have also performed paper research into food nutrition and security in Bangladesh for the Fall 2006 World Food Prize Youth Symposium . [pdf document]
