- Model problems - transport, Laplace, heat and wave equations
(Chapter 2)
- Scalar first order equations - Hamilton-Jacobi equations
and conservation laws (Chapter 3)
- Representation of solutions - Separation of variables, transform
methods, power series (Chapter 4)
- General linear theory - local solvability, fundamental
solutions, propagation of singularities
Topics from Chapters 5-9 of the text will be covered in the spring
semester
