Linear operator theory
Spectral theory of differential and integral operators
Green's functions and boundary value problems
Weak solutions of partial differential equations and variational methods
Calculus in Banach spaces and applications

COURSE GRADING POLICIES:

Homework assignments.........................50% of grade
Midterm exam...................................... 20% of grade [Midterm with solutions]
Final examination...................................30% of grade

Homework assignments will be given about once a week and due about a week later. Discussion of homework problems with other students is encouraged, but what is handed in should be your own work. I am often willing to talk with you and give hints about the assignments before they are due.
