About Us |

EnaGen was formed in 2007, and has offices in Raleigh NC, Ames IA and Norwich UK. EnaGen’s mission is to enhance crop plant biomass for improved and more sustainable crop yield. EnaGen is working on biomass yield, biomass quality and bioproduct innovations through its four subsidiary business units: (a) Discovery & Innovation, (b) Screening, Research & Advancement, (c) Trait Licensing, and (d) Commercial Development.

EnaGen’s Four Business Units |

EnaGen’s Discovery & Innovation Unit is targeted to the identification & funding of innovative new approaches to enhancing biomass yield and biomass quality for improved liquid fuel production. This includes work on novel co-products that would have a significant impact on the biofuel industry. EnaGen will also target metabolic engineering approaches and advanced breeding efforts involving marker-assisted breeding. This is focused on storage pathways aimed at identifying stacked gene combinations for transformation and breeding, followed by a careful “Systems-Biology” evaluation of product leads. |

Innovation |

EnaGen’s Screening Research & Advancement Unit is targeted to selecting and advancing promising project opportunities from Discovery & Innovation. This work is directed towards screening innovative New Genotypes, Traits or Genes with the aim of identifying future investment opportunities. The work will initiate and build a series active breeding, backcrossing and biotechnology programs for enhanced liquid fuel production. |

Screening |

EnaGen’s Trait Licensing Unit is targeted to advancing trait leads from the screening process into a proof-of-concept stage. EnaGen’s through to potential licensing partners. Working closely with the Commercial Development Unit, work here will include field-scale evaluations of putative products so as to support proof-of-commercial-potential. |

EnaGen’s stage-gated process will result in a careful advancement progression, aimed at controlling expenses and identifying optimal products. |
