After briefly discussing the experimental evidence for the
exotic baryons, we introduce effective chiral soliton models which
predicted their existence, masses and widths prior to the
discovery. We discuss uncertainties of this approach and
further phenomenological consequences. Finally we compare
chiral soliton models with the quark models and other
theoretical predictions for the exotic baryons.
