Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity:

Since arriving at college, Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity has been a part of my everyday life. It has allowed me to grow and mature into a young adult faster than I could have ever imagined. The many friendships and bonds created in my time at the house are ever lasting. The fraternity allowed me to challenge myself and explore opportunities I never have before. Leadership is one thing I lacked while in high school, but through the fraternity, I was able to gain that leadership experience and responsibility. I have been Scholarship, Risk Management, Social Chair, and Greek Week chairs in the past, as well as the current Scholarship Chair for the fall semester. Scholarship is something we pride ourselves on and sets us apart from the rest of the community and even the university. Being responsible for the chapters programming is a task in its self. Regular meetings with cabinet are a must to update them of our progress. Meeting with the members that are struggling with classes, attending various scholarship related functions, and helping whenever I can are just some of the many tasks I am responsible for. Through my experience as Scholarship Chair, I ran and was selected for the Interfraternal Council Vice President of Scholarship. This was a huge acheivement for me as their are only twelve executive members on council representing over 30 fraternities on campus. My responsibilities were now concentrated on the entire community, rather than just my chapter. I hosted various scholarship roundtables were members could ask questions, voice concerns, or bounce ideas of each other to promote better scholarship programming. Every semester, there was a Academic Recognition Night were we recognized those individuals who excelled in the field of academics. Regular meetings with advisors and the university staff were vital in the success of the programming. Being recognized daily as an important part of the community was a great acheivement for me. |
RSM McGladrey, L.L.P:
My recent internship with RSM McGladrey was very beneficial for me. It provided me with hands on experience in the world of tax. As one of ten interns, I completed multiple corporate and individual tax returns for their clientel. I was challenged on a daily basis and it required me to learn at a quicker pace. I developed valuable communication skills as I was in contact with the manager, reviewer, and ultimately the client themselves. I was always willing to assist other employees on their projects whenever I had spare time and quickly developed accountability and responsibility qualities. The best part about the internship was my ability to interact with everyone in the office and not just the other interns. It was a career experience I will never forget and the lessons learned will carry with me into my professional career.
Personal Quote:
Persistence
"Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan "press on" has solved and will always solve the problems of the human race."
- Calvin Coolidge, 30th President
