Possible solutions to problems reading Acrobat .pdf files 1) Unable to see the .pdf file. Symptom: You click on the link to the .pdf file and nothing happens. You don't see any new file on the screen. What should happen: The .pdf files are read by a plug-in program called Acrobat Reader. When you click on the link, your browser should start Acrobat Reader automatically, a new window should pop up. After the file is downloaded, you will see the text. Possible problems / solutions: a) Acrobat Reader is not installed. You need to download Reader from the Adobe web site. The program is free. b) Active X is disabled in Internet Explorer. This is not a problem if your browser is Netscape. For security reasons, your computer administrator may have disabled Active X. This prevents the Acrobat plug in from starting. See your administrator to see if you can change the security settings to prompt or enable (temporarily). 2) You can see the .pdf file on the screen, but you can't print it properly. Symptom: When you try to print the file, the characters are huge. Possible problems: I'm stumped. Anyone else know what's the problem here? Symptom: The printout has normal size characters, but the print is very poor quality. Possible solutions: Make sure you're using the print button in the Acrobat window, not the print button in the browser window. This may not be sufficient. The font is not a standard PC font, but it should be readable.
