The oldest style of playing is the standard technique of Fingerstyle. This method came from the old Upright/Double bass, and is still one of the primary methods used today. Using your fingers generates a very natural tone that is pleasing to the ears. While difficult to play quickly at first, with practice it can be one of the fastest, most accurate, and most natural playing styles.
